PAL-lympics

The 2008 Denville PAL-lympics will be held Friday, June 6 and Saturday, June 7. Competitions for those 14 years old or younger will be held for baseball throwing, basketball shooting, canoe racing, checkers, chess, football punt/pass/kick, golf, street hockey, horseshoes, soccer, softball throwing, tennis, and track. There are even events for pre-schoolers, like the 5-yard crawl for those athletes under 1 year old. Online and mail in registration are available and will be accepted until April 30th. Zimmerman Architects Lead Seniors

Zimmerman Architects lead the Senior Division after the first week of play. Their 1-0 record is good enough to put them at the top of the division.

Sal's Photography Tops in Junior Division

After one week of play, Sal's Photography sits on top of the Junior Division. Sal's is 2-0 with 6 points after the first week of play.

Union Hill Farms Early Leader in Instructional Division

Union Hill Farms jumped into first place in the Instructional Division by going 2-0 during the first week of play. Jay-Kay Plumbing is in second place at 1-0-1 and 1 point out of first place.

Division Standings Expanded on Website

Standings for the Instructional Division have been added to the Denville PAL Girls Softball website (www.denvillesoftball.org). Division standings are now available for Senior, Junior, and Instructional Divisions. To access the standings, click on the division name at the top of the home page and then page down to the standings.

Instructional Division All-Stars

At the end of our spring season, we will select two all-star teams from the Instructional Division. Each of the eight teams will select 3 players to participate in the all-star game. Players from Cutter's Tree Service, Union Hill Farms, EMA International, and St. Mary's Prep will represent the American League. Players from American Roof Maintenance, Denville Landscape Supply, Jay-Kay Plumbing, and Hennion & Walsh will represent the National League. More details to follow.

12U Blue Devils Start Season on Positive Note

After a few scrimmage games, the 2008 12U Blue Devils travel softball team kicked off their spring season on April 10. Two games into the season, they are 2-0. The 12U Blue Devils will enjoy a nice layoff before getting back into action in Roxbury on April 28.

14U Blue Devils Notch First Victory

The 14U Blue Devils collected their first victory in dramatic fashion Thursday night at Gardner Field. Trailing 9-4 entering the bottom of the 7th inning, the Blue Devils exploded for a 6-run inning capped off by a two run, walk-off single to end the game.

8U Blue Devils Travel Team Tryouts

Tryouts for the 2008 8U Denville Blue Devils will be held on May 3 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on May 10 from 9:00 AM to 11:30 AM at Valleyview School field. Players planning on trying out must attend at least one of these sessions. Tryouts will be open to players participating in the Denville PAL Girls Softball Recreation League in the 2008 Spring season who were born during 1999 or later. Players who make the team will continue to participate in the recreation league during the Spring and may also have periodic practices with the 8U team. Game play for the 8U travel team will begin in June and will run through the end of July.

Picture Day

Picture day for our 2008 season will be Saturday May 17. A schedule will be posted on the web site (www.denvillesoftball.org) in May.
