10U Blue Devils Top Jefferson

May 13, 2006 - The 10U Blue Devils traveled to Jefferson tonight to take on one of the powerhouses of 10U softball. Denville's ace Cara Napolitano had another outstanding game on the mound displaying amazing control and striking out 15.

The defense sparkled in 7-6 victory with several run saving plays. In one of the top defensive plays of the season, Emily Poquette caught up to and snagged a deep, towering drive into right center field. On another key play Katie Johnson took the relay from left center field and gunned down the runner at home trying to score from second. Julia Graziano was on the receiving end of the throw and made an outstanding tag to keep the runner from scoring. Gina Nappi made several web gems on first base and Sarah Hill made a key backup at first base preventing a ball from going out of play.

The Blue Devils were equally impressive on offense. Cara Napolitano, Gina Nappi, and Katie Johnson each posted multiple hit games. Hayley Advokat, Raelyn Giansanti, and Ruth Advokat also posted hits. Mia Baldassari, Sarah HIll and Madison Beumee drew some timely walks and Christina Murphy and Courtney Knudsen worked the count nicely in some tough at bats.

Katie Johnson will be on the mound on Tuesday as the Blue Devils take on Long Valley at Rock Spring Park field.
