Denville PAL Girls’ Softball
Clinic Division Rules
- Regulation game play will
consist of four innings. The score is not kept in Clinic Division games so
the number of innings can be modified based on time available.
- All girls play in the field at
all times. No more than 7 players are allowed to play in the infield.
- The 11” Incrediball
will be used during game play.
- The batter:
- All players will bat
each inning. The inning is over once all players bat.
- The batting order may
be modified from inning to inning. However, no player may bat more than
once in an inning.
- When the last batter
comes up to bat, all players and coaches must be informed by coach of the
team at bat. The last batter will end the inning regardless of how many
outs there are.
- Bunting is not
permitted.
- If a player throws a
bat:
- First time = warning
- Second time = called
out
- The Runner:
- Runners may advance
only one base on any hit ball.
- No stealing is
permitted.
- Runners may not
advance on an overthrow.
- If three outs are recorded
in an inning, all runners must be removed from base but the inning shall
continue until all players have batted.
- The hitter and runners
may advance as many bases as possible when the last batter in the inning
puts the ball in play.
- Pitching:
- Each coach shall pitch
to his team.
- Each hitter shall
receive up to 5 pitches to hit the ball. Balls and strikes will not be
called. If the hitter does not put the ball into play after 5 pitches,
the coach must place the ball on a batting tee. The hitter can then take
as many swings as needed to put the ball into play from the tee.
- Umpire:
- The coach who is
pitching will serve as the umpire.
- Players called out
must leave the base.
- Practice dates will be used
for rescheduling games. If the game can not be played due to rain or poor
field conditions, the home team coach shall contact the visiting team
coach within 48 hours to reschedule the game. The game shall be
rescheduled on a mutually agreeable date on using one of the home team’s
future practice slots. If a mutually agreeable date can not be found using
the home teams practice slots, a future practice slot from the visiting
team may be used.
- Field Modifications: Base
paths will be set at 50 feet.
- Players may wear rubber
cleats (no metal spikes).
To make our program fun and competitive, the rules will be modified if
needed. Our main objective is to have Denville’s PAL Girl’s Softball program
rules track the rules of our licensing organization and have our players
subject to the same standards of play as their peers throughout New
Jersey and the rest of the country.
