2008 “School’s Out Tournament”-Final

Thursday - Friday – Saturday: are the Seeding Games. 3 games per team (except 8U).
Sunday:

Tiers will be created (i.e. Seeds 1-8, 9-16, 17-24)

Rules
ASA with the following exceptions and clarifications:
- Teams
may consist of a maximum of 15 players
- Teams
must present a roster of all team members, listing names, age, and uniform
number to the tournament director at Administration Headquarters at Ungermann Field.
- Teams
must have proof of age available for each player
- Insurance
coverage is the responsibility of each team and must be submitted before
playing the first game.
- Umpires:
- Seeding Games = 1
umpire.
Sunday Quarterfinals = 1 umpire, Semifinals/Finals
= 2 umpires.
- No
smoking is permitted in the playing field areas
- The
game length is seven innings for 12’s and 14’s, --- Six innings for 10’s
- Seeding Games-Time limit is
1 hour & 30 minutes hard cap for all seeding games. At that point, score to be recorded will
be last completed inning. No new inning to begin after 1 hour and 20
minutes and ties are allowed.
- Sunday
Games - B and C Tier teams. The same time limits of
no new inning after 1 hour
and 20 minutes will be in force for all games - HOWEVER, once an inning
begins, there is no hard cap and the inning will be played to
completion. If the score is still tied
at the completion of that inning, the teams will immediately go to the
international tie-breaker process.
The Championship Game will be played to completion. . International tiebreaker to go into
effect in the 7th (for the 10’s ) and
8th (for the 12/14/’s)
if required.
- Sunday
Games - A Tier Teams. The same time limits of no new inning after 1 hour and 20
minutes will be in force for games up until the Semi-finals. Once an inning begins prior to the semi’s, there is no hard cap and the inning will be
played to completion. If the score
is still tied at the completion of that inning, the teams will immediately
go to the international tie-breaker process. The Semi-finals and the finals will be
played to completion. International
tiebreaker to go into effect in the 7th (for the 10’s ) and 8th (for the 12/14/’s) if required.
- The
home team in seeding will be determined by a coin toss. Team that traveled the furthest calls
the coin toss. Sunday
elimination will be by highest seed.
- All
teams must present lineups to the umpire and opposing coach prior to the
game.
- The
home team keeps the official scorebook.
Game start time is to be recorded as home team takes field in home
scorebook, and should be confirmed by both teams with the umpire before
starting play. For seeding games, if
a game starts more than 10 minutes after scheduled start, the official
start time will be 10 minutes after scheduled start.
- The
umpire has the official and final say on all scorebook disputes.
- Courtesy
runners may be used for the pitcher & catcher at any time.
- Courtesy
runner is last batted out
- The
mercy rule is: 10 runs after four innings.
- Pitching
distance is: 35 feet for 10’s - 40 feet for 12’s, and 14’s.
- Managers
are expected to control themselves, their coaches, players, parents and
spectators. Failure to do so may
result in forfeiture of the game and ejection from the game, multiple
games or the tournament
- No
protests will be allowed – Umpires calls are final.
- Sparta
travel softball will supply the game balls for all games.
- Infield
practice prior to the game is forbidden.
Teams must warm up on the grass.
- Batting
an Extra Player (EP/DH) is allowed in Tournament – can use multiple EP’s
if you wish (so you can bat Cinderella).
Otherwise normal substitution rules apply.
Pre-tournament
check-in
All
teams must present themselves at the administrative tent at Ungermann
Field and submit their rosters and proof of insurance if not done so prior to
tournament.
§
Forfeit
time is 10 minutes after scheduled game start time unless tournament director
allows exception. Tournament director
has total authority to wave forfeit rule due to acceptable extenuating
circumstances.

& under exceptions
·
Teams may choose to have just 10 players in the
batting order with subs. (If elected,
the team is bound by normal substitution rules.
·
Teams may
also choose to bat all players (Cinderella).
They would then have free substitution in and out of all field
positions.
- Lineup type that you start with at the
beginning of the game is what you use for the entire game. It is a team choice. (One team can play it one way and the
other do it their way)
·
Leading on release is permitted.
·
Runners will be allowed to steal third base and
only third base. Stealing of second or
home will not be permitted. No advancing on overthrow after steal of third is
allowed. We want to involve catchers in
the game and let them try to throw out runners.
·
Runner is eligible to be put out if caught off
base with their lead.
·
No dropped third strike, No infield fly rule
·
Pitching distance is 35’
·
Maximum
of 5 runs in any half inning may be scored.
Once a team scores 5 runs, their at bat is finished and the next half
inning begins.
8
& under rules
·
Teams must
bat Cinderella. They may have 10
fielders and have free substitution in and out of all field positions.
·
Leading when ball reaches the plate.
·
No stealing
·
No walks
·
Coach pitches from 32 feet.
·
First two strikes can be called by the
umpire. Strike 3 must be a swing and
miss.
·
No bunting
·
No dropped third strike.
·
No infield fly rule
·
Only one base may be taken on an overthrow of
any kind.
·
If an
attempt is made by a fielder to throw the ball into the pitcher, the runner may
only advance to the base they were
running toward at the time the attempt is made.
·
Maximum
of 5 runs in any half inning may be scored.
Once a team scores 5 runs, their at bat is finished and the next half
inning begins.
