Rules

 

FACE MASKS AND CHIN STRAPS ARE REQUIRED

  1. You must check in 30 minutes prior to first game. The index card given to you at registration must be given to the umpire prior to each game. The umpire will write in the score, sign it, and the winning team will submit it to the Tournament Director.
  2. A complete roster with name, address and birth date of each player on the team must be presented at sign-in along with copies of your insurance certificate and birth certificates of players.
  3. Maximum of 15 players on a roster.
  4. The home team is decided by a coin toss. The team that traveled the longest distance calls it.
  5. The home team has the official book including start time declared by the umpire.
  6. Teams should compare books between innings to avoid controversy.
  7. There will be trophies for first and second place in each division.
  8. MVP medals will be awarded by opponent after each of the Friday/Saturday games.
  9. Smoking is not permitted on the fields or dugouts.
  10. No infield warm-up prior to the game, no soft toss against the fence and no batting sticks in use during games.
  11. Dugouts are to be cleaned after each game.
  12. There is a zero tolerance policy concerning the conduct of fans, players and coaches. Violation of the policy will result in removal from the complex. Please remember that the tournament is for the players.
  13. Sunday seeding:

a)     Overall record (2 points for a win, 1 for a tie)

b)     Head to head

c)      Runs allowed

d)     Shutouts

e)     Runs scored

  1. Any forfeit of preliminary games will eliminate your playing on Sunday.
  2. ASA rules, except pitcher is not required to have both feet on pitching plate at start of pitch. (see modifications for U 12 below).
  3. ASA Flex player is allowed (essentially a DH)
  4. Mercy Rule:

a)     10 or more after 5 innings

b)     10 or more after 4 innings (only in U12)

  1. The game times on Friday/Saturday are as follows:

a)     No inning can start after 1hour and 30 minutes from official start time.

b)     Kill time is 1 hour and 45 minutes from official start time. Games may end in a tie. Score reverts back to previous inning unless home team has taken the lead.

 

  1. The game times on Sunday are as follows:

a)     Quarterfinal games played to completion except in case of a tie.

b)     International tie breaker rule in effect after 7 innings (last scheduled batter in

c)      current inning for each team starts at second base).

d)     Semifinal and final games played to completion unless mercy rule.

  1. Speed-up rule as per ASA (courtesy runner for pitcher or catcher at any time – Please use a bench player if available, otherwise, last batted out).
  2. Five-pitch warm up between innings.
  3. U12 Modifications:

a)     10th fielder is permitted, no restriction on where they line up

b)     You can field 10 and use 11 (using Flex Player as noted above).

c)      Mercy rule as noted above.

d)     No dropped third

e)     No stealing home

f)        Cinderella batting is allowed. Each team must declare before the start of the game. If you choose Cinderella batting you also can use free substitution in the field

  1. U14 Modifications:

a)     Cinderella batting is allowed. Each team must declare before the start of the game. If you choose Cinderella batting you also can use free substitution in the field.

  1. All game balls are to be returned to the umpire at the end of the game.
  2. Any discrepancies and rule interpretations will be resolved on the field by the umpires; there will be no protests.
  3. If rain or wet fields become a factor, the tournament director can declare a rain schedule which will allow the tournament to be completed.
  4. In the event of a rainout on Sunday, the highest seed remaining will be declared the winner.
